Recently, the Events Committee, the Hawthornes and the McCullough’s along with the Pukallus’ and Hendry’s flew into Gayndah for their Heartland Festival.
We decided to go to this festival after the welcome we received previously from the Mayor at the opening of Gayndah’s new airport facilities.
During our visit to the Heartland Festival, they lived up to their word with the whole community making us so welcome.
The community seems to have caught the promotion bug from their new Mayor, Rachel Chambers (Elected April 2016 see story at http://southburnett.com.au/news2/2016/04/new-mayor-for-north-burnett/)
During our last visit to the Heartland Festival. we were invited back for the Gayndah Orange Festival which we believe is bigger than Ben Hur.
The Gayndah Orange Festival is held on the May long weekend 29th April – 1st May 2017.
The Gayndah Mayor, Rachel and business owners have invited all aviators to attend the 2017 Gayndah Orange Festival.
All airport details including fuel availability are listed in the ERSA with free transport to and from the airport with accommodation at the Golden Orange Motel, phone no 41611107. Our Host there is Ken Mogg who along with event staff will look after our needs while attending this event.
This is a major yearly regional festival and is deserving our support especially that the town and shire is so supportive of the aviation community.
IMPORTANT:
The QRAA Events Committee is promoting this 2017 May Long Weekend two night stay now as a fly away weekend because accommodation is limited so will need to be booked now.
Some of us have already booked at the Golden Orange Hotel-Motel (Four Couples). Ken Mogg (Golden Orange) doesn’t require a deposit so it’s not a problem if we have to cancel due to weather.
The following link lists accommodation at Gayndah if the Golden Orange is booked out.
Burnett Flyers have organised breakfast at the Ted Kirk Field for our arrival on Saturday 29th April from 7am. See flyer.
Please let us know if you plan to attend by completing the Registration form on the Events Tab or email us at qraawarwick@gmail.com.
